About Center:

The International Center for Neuroscience Research was established in 2014 with funding from institute for intelligent research in Georgia and some neuroscience organizations in Europe (France, Germany and UK). As an official educational research center, the center is a collaborative partner and organization member of International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN), European Society for Neurochemistry (ESN), Mediterranean Neuroscience Society (MNS), World Federation of Neurology (WFN), World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), European Brain Health Organization (EBHO), and The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS). The main goal of this center is to promote applied neuroscience research and share knowledge, experience, and build strong collaborations between scientists and neuroscience organizations around the world. At this center, research is focused on understanding the development of the central nervous system and the cellular, molecular, synaptic, and network mechanisms of brain dysfunction to prevent or treat neurological, developmental, and behavioral disorders.

Research Areas:

1- Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience:
The Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience research at the International Center for Neuroscience Research is driven by the overarching goal of elucidating the neural mechanisms that underlie both human and animal behavior, using a comprehensive array of approaches and model systems. Our researchers address a broad spectrum of topics (including learning and memory, cognitive control, neurodevelopment, and language) by integrating behavioral analyses with state-of-the-art methodologies such as neuroimaging, molecular genetics, and electrophysiology.  Studies frequently bridge basic and translational science, leveraging findings from both animal models and human participants to advance understanding of phenomena ranging from memory formation and cognitive flexibility to communication and sleep regulation. By uniting diverse expertise and experimental approaches, Our Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience projects contributes to leading research, ultimately deepening insight into the brain-behavior relationship and informing new strategies to address neurologic and psychiatric conditions.

2- Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience:
Our research in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience harnesses cutting-edge tools from molecular and cellular biology to investigate neural function at microscopic scales, addressing fundamental questions about brain processes in health and disease. Our work explores how neuronal molecules regulate the complex cellular environment essential for proper function, investigates communication between nervous system cells, and examines neural development from embryonic to adult stages. Our research projects span neuronal and glial signaling, synaptic plasticity, neuropharmacology, neuroendocrinology, and neuroimmunology with particular attention to how genetic risk factors impact brain processes across biological scales. The center employs diverse experimental approaches including vertebrate and invertebrate models, human cell-based assays, and computational tools that integrate complex datasets, contributing to the promising developments in molecular science for brain health that have emerged in recent years.

3- Clinical Neuroscience:
Our research in Clinical Neuroscience focuses on understanding, treating, and preventing neurological disorders while developing effective rehabilitation strategies for patients with nervous system injuries. We integrate cognitive, behavioral, and functional outcomes research across developmental conditions like autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and epilepsy, as well as adult-onset conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Recent advances in clinical neuroscience have been significantly enhanced through the symbiotic relationship with neurotechnology, which has revolutionized our diagnostic capabilities and treatment approaches for neural disorders. Our researchers investigate neuroanatomical and neurophysiological alterations, neurotransmitter function, and the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of disease-induced changes, with particular attention to how the immune system and neuroinflammation influence neural disease processes. Our commitment to reproducibility drives us to document and share detailed methodologies and results, contributing to the development of more effective neuropsychological interventions and neurological rehabilitation techniques for conditions ranging from anxiety disorders and depression to multiple sclerosis and brain tumors.
International Center for Neuroscience Research is a member of many international organizations and focused on international collaboration with universities, societies, institutes and companies to conduct research projects in Neuroscience. The research carried at International Center for Neuroscience Research aims to: Neurobiology of learning and memory, using behavioral and electrophysiological techniques, Understand the molecular and cellular functions of the brain, Investigate the behavioral, histological and molecular mechanisms of chronic stress and related psychological disturbances, Investigate the molecular mechanisms and therapy of brain disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Epilepsy, Neurotrauma, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and brain cancer.
